Small evergreen shrub up to 2m. Glossy leaves on red stems. New growth in the spring is also red. Pale white flowers form on older plant in late summer followed by purple berries. Best grown in well drained soil in sun or light shade and protected from severe cold when young. Avoid cold windy areas.
